What is the Transcontinental Race?
The 12th edition begins in Trondheim, Norway, on the edge of the Arctic Circle before sending riders south through four mandatory control points, including the fjords of Flåm, the Tatra Mountains, Sarajevo's Olympic bobsled track and the remote Albanian town of Leskovik, before finishing in Kalamata, Greece. Linking Scandinavia with the Balkans and the Mediterranean, the 2026 route promises one of the most diverse and demanding editions in the race's history.
Founded by the late Mike Hall in 2013, the Transcontinental Race has become one of the world's most iconic ultra-distance cycling events, inspiring riders from around the globe to test themselves across an ever-changing route through Europe. This year's edition once again brings together experienced veterans and first-time competitors, all united by the same challenge: reaching Kalamata under their own power.

What makes the race so hard?
At the sharp end it is a beautifully hard bicycle race, simple in design but complex in execution. Factors of self reliance, logistics, navigation and judgement burden racers’ minds as well as their physiques. The strongest excel and redefine what we think possible, while many experienced riders target only a finish.
To make the finish, riders will cover over 4,000km and remain fully self-supported throughout the whole race.

Maglia Arancia
The Points Classification and Maglia Arancia are back and up for grabs at TCRNo12. Awarded to the rider with the fastest cumulative time across all mandatory parcours sections from Trondheim to Kalamata (excluding the start parcours), this jersey is made for the love of the challenge and the thrill of the chase.
Inspired by the Tour’s Green Jersey and the Giro’s Maglia Ciclamino, the Maglia Arancia gives those who want it an opportunity and a reason to push strategically throughout the race. The award is dedicated to those riders who are no longer with us, and to cycling safety advocacy, as we pedal on with joy while remembering those who have fallen. The win could be claimed by any GC rider along the route, not just those leading the race from the front.

When riding 5,000km, a finish can feel like a win. Many have life changing experiences but never make it across the line.
Awarded to the last rider to finish within the General Classification cut off, who will be welcomed by their fellow finishers at the party and presented with a unique memory to recognise that finishing these races must always be celebrated.
