A Month Outside with Weronika Szalas
26 06 26What happens when you spend 30 days riding bikes and sleeping outdoors?
For Albion ambassador Weronika Szalas and her partner Tomek Milewski, the answer has been found among the mountains, forests and coastline of northern Norway.
Travelling by bike through the Lyngen Alps, Senja and beyond, they've spent every night camping, washing in rivers and lakes, charging electronics during resupplies and following a schedule dictated by daylight rather than set hours.
With the Midnight Sun overhead, days have stretched long into the night. Breakfasts have happened in the afternoon, dinners at midnight, and sleep has come wherever the next campsite appeared. Sometimes beneath clear skies, sometimes accompanied by the sound of rain on the tent.
There has been no rush to cover distance, the focus has been on spending time outside. Riding, hiking, camping and experiencing the landscapes of northern Norway at a slower pace.
Senja proved a particular highlight with its steep mountains rising straight from the sea.
'A Month Outside' began with a simple idea, ride bikes and sleep in nature for 30 days, but it has become a reminder of how little is needed when you have the essentials packed and each day is shaped by the freedom to move under your own steam.
